Earth Restored

We passively wander without notice

Not aware of the damage we’ve inflicted

On a place with such beauty and promise

The destruction was building slowly over time

Until quickly it hastens and we are no longer blind

We are asked to slow our consumption

And halt our pace in the face of a scare

It’s not until then that we see her offering as rare

As no one is allowed to continue polluting

There is a green warning should we heed her message

Life will resume and finds its way to thriving

But we must continue to repair her blue and green spaces

So future generations aren’t reliving

The mayhem a broken ecosystem has created

We’ve been invited to inhabit this earth for such a short while

But not without honoring and paying a price

That goes well beyond only just our life

How wonderful would it be if we could all simply agree

That this beautiful earth was nothing short of splendid and

Not deserving of our debris
